What is God doing backstage while we pray?
Elisha told the Shunammite woman (whose son he had brought back to life 2 Kings 4), “Take your family and relocate. There will be a famine in Israel for seven years.”
This Shunammite woman took her family and lived in another country for seven years.
After the famine ended, the Shunammite woman returned to Israel and went to see the king about getting back their house and land.
When the Shunammite woman came in, the king was talking with Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, saying, “Tell me about the great things Elisha has done.”
Gehazi was telling the king about when Elisha brought a little boy back to life. At that very moment, the Shunammite woman (mother of the boy) walked in!
“Oh, sir!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the Shunammite woman now, with her son—the very one Elisha brought back to life!”
“Is this true?” the king asked her.
The Shunammite woman told the king that it was.
So the king directed his officials to see that everything the Shunammite woman had owned was restored to her, plus the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence.
